QA Internal Briefing – Program Monitoring, Review and Continual Quality Improvement

QA Internal Briefing training was held on June 20, 2023, using Zoom meeting as a platform to conduct the training. The briefing session is scheduled for academic staff from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences and Faculty of Languages. This briefing effectively raised awareness about Programme Monitoring, Review (PMR) and Continual Quality Improvement (CQI) that provided by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). The CQI Assessment and Improvement Framework is a systematic approach to evaluating and enhancing the quality of processes within an organization. It consists of three levels of CQI: CQI at the Program Educational Objective level, CQI at the Program Learning Outcome level, and CQI at the Course Learning Outcome level. At the Program Educational Objective level, CQI involves assessing and improving the overall effectiveness of a program in achieving its stated objectives. This includes evaluating the alignment between program objectives and the needs of stakeholders, as well as determining whether the program is meeting industry standards and best practices.

At the Program Learning Outcome level, CQI focuses on evaluating and enhancing the achievement of specific learning outcomes within a program. This includes assessing the extent to which students are acquiring the knowledge, skills, and competencies outlined in the program’s learning outcomes. At the Course Learning Outcome level, CQI involves evaluating and improving the attainment of specific learning outcomes within individual courses. This includes assessing the effectiveness of instructional strategies, evaluating student performance against the stated learning outcomes, and identifying areas for improvement in course design and delivery. The generic CQI cycle can be applied to internal processes at both institutional and departmental levels. At the end of this event, participant able to explain how the results of the assessment process can be used as indicators for continual quality improvement of a programme. This event has been organized by the Quality Assurance (QA) Unit and will have future training extensions.
